Creative Writing Summer Camps

Dublin Scribes and Scribblers

Scribes and Scribblers explores the basic elements of storytelling (language, character, plot and more) while encouraging young authors to embrace the creative writing process in a fun, artistic and confidence-building environment.

About the Instructors:
Professional writers Colleen D’Angelo and Linda Forte-Spearing will do anything to get kids to read and write!  They look forward to guiding enthusiastic campers on ONE or MORE of these camping adventures.

CAMP 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
For students entering Grades 5 and 6

June 8 – June 12 (Mon through Fri)
9 am to 12 pm

Bailey Elementary, Library
Cost: $100

Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you of your acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

Campers will enjoy five “Muggle-free” days as they explore the fascinating world of Harry Potter. Write your own spells, create a guide for the care and feeding of magical animals, design trading cards, invent your own wizarding sport. These are just a few of the activities we’ll use to discover more about JK Rowling’s best selling series.

* A complete reading of book 1: “The Sorcerer’s Stone” is highly recommended. A love of all things Harry Potter is mandatory! *

Materials will be provided. Campers should bring a NUT-FREE snack and something to drink.

For students entering Grades 6 and 7

June 15 – June 19 (Mon through Fri)
9 am to 12 pm

Karrer Middle School, Library
Cost: $100

Will you volunteer as Tribute for your District? Get ready to conjure your inner Katniss or Peeta and help write the next Hunger Games adventure. Research necessary survival skills, design clothing to represent your District in the parade, and plan for the final day when you enter The Arena. Based on the popular trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

* A complete reading of book 1: “The Hunger Games” is required. Let the games begin! *

Materials will be provided. Campers should bring a NUT-FREE snack and something to drink.

For students entering Grades 5 and 6

July 13 – July 17 (Mon through Fri)
9 am to 12 pm

Cost: $100

Do you dream of attending Camp Half-Blood? Ever have that feeling you might be related to something ancient and powerful? Now is your chance to find out which Olympian will claim you. Based on the characters and creatures in Rick
Riordan’s books, campers will write their own quest for Percy Jackson, discuss Greek mythology, create shields and swords for future battle, play capture the flag and more.

* A complete reading of book 1: “The Lightning Thief” is required. A fondness for satyrs, centaurs and mythical monsters is essential. *

Materials will be provided. Campers should bring a NUT-FREE snack and something to drink.

Enroll Your Kroger Card for IRE PTO

Time to re-enroll your Kroger Plus Card

If you’re a Kroger customer, you can support the Indian Run PTO while shopping at Kroger. It won’t cost you anything other than the groceries you already buy. All you have to do is register your Kroger Plus shopper’s card on behalf of the PTO.

Go to www.krogercommunityrewards.com and follow the instructions for enrolling or re-enrolling your card. IRE PTO organization number is 80708.

The process takes less than 5 minutes, but it benefits the PTO greatly!  During the past couple of years, we’ve received between $500 and $800 each quarter.

Kroger requires all participants to re-enroll each April. So even if you’re already participating, you must re-enroll this month!

Indian Run FUNdraising Night  at Menchie’s (Sawmill)

4 to 9 p.m. 

Our final FUNdraising Night of the Year is this Thursday. When you’re done with dinner or homework or after-school activities, bring the whole family to Menchie’s for a special treat! Menchie’s has a wonderful selection of frozen yogurts and nearly every topping you can imagine, from fresh fruits and rainbow sprinkles to candy bars and gummi bears.

Kroger Card for IRE PTO

Time to re-enroll your Kroger Plus Card
If you’re a Kroger customer, you can support the Indian Run PTO while shopping at Kroger. It won’t cost you anything other than the groceries you already buy.
